Y A W N
Sorry.... i'm feeling a bit tired at the minute... I should really be asleep now but I've just got too much running round my head. So here I am, half awake, half asleep.... Yawn
I know I haven't blogged for ages, I just haven't really has the time... I know that's a pretty poor excuse but I have just found it incredibly hard recently juggling work (and all the associated crap you get with working for yourself) with everything else... such as a 9 month old baby, an over excited boxerdog and getting organised for Christmas. I think I've failed miserably by the way - I'm definitely not organised for Christmas!
Work has been good recently, I've been very busy and i've got a couple of good new clients. I think at the minute I've got a catalogue job on, a website, a flyer and some business stationery work... so it's looking like I might be busy right up to Christmas and possibly over it!
I really want to push on in the New Year and really establish the business... I thing its progressed quite steadily over the last year or so and hopefully fingers crossed it can carry on in the right direction. I want more clients and more work next year, so I will be doing much more marketing.
I very nearly wrote a post a few weeks back that would have been a bit of a moan and a grumble from myself about some of the negative sides of working for yourself. But thankfully I didn't... the thing is, you see I've finally learnt that you can't dwell on things, you have to develop a thick skin and sometimes bite your tongue, smile and move on... for every pain in the arse, bad client there a couple of really great clients who your happy to go the extra mile for, who appreciate your work and are happy to pay for it.
Anyway grumble over, I'm not going to go into detail and tell you about what very nearly triggered my rant... I'll save it for another day!

Midfield General
So on the day Sir Alex is given the honor of having the North Stand named after him in recognition of his 25 years service at Old Trafford, I couldn't help thinking that a better gift might have been a couple of new central midfielders.
The performance against Sunderland was a slight improvement but I still came away feeling pretty disappointed at what I'd seen. United are playing with a real lack of confidence, there's no creativity, we just don't make as many chances as we used to... its not enjoyable to watch.
Personally I think the problem is in midfield, that's certainly the long term problem anyway - I know that United will start playing better over the next few weeks, they will start winning games more convincingly and that certain player will get there confidence back but we definitely need to invest in our midfield.
To be honest we probably need a couple of midfielders - I think we need a specialist defensive midfielder and a creative playmaker, a real 'Midfield General' that can dictate play. I remember when we bought Roy Keane, we already had Paul Ince, Nicky Butt and Bryan Robson at the club - thats four world class defensive/all round midfield players, not to mention the creative midfield players that we also had at the club.
The current squad doesn't have that strength in midfield, there are only really two that i'm happy with... I like Darren Fletcher, I think hes good player, he covers a lot of ground, works hard, can tackle and pass. Tom Cleverley looks the part when he is fit, I think he could become a special player for us but he's still quite young. I've given up on Anderson - he's just so inconsistent, there might be a great player hiding in there somewhere but how long do we have to wait. He's been here a long time now and he should be playing at consistent level but I think he's been shocking recently. The other so called 'Midfielder' is Carrick - I don't know what's gone wrong with him, but I think he's awful - there's no passion, no running, he can't tackle, he gives the ball away all the time, he isn't a goal threat - I don't rate him!
Hopefully, fingers crossed we'll do a bit of shopping in January and bring in a couple of players.

Stop Limping!
Quick update on 'Weak Knees Ryan' - he's still limping. I think he's doing it out of habit, he's just very reluctant to use his bad leg, so when I take him out he limps all the way down the road!
I can get him to stop limping by threatening to take him home, I turn around and start walking back towards the house and then he pulls the lead and put his bad leg down so that its harder for me to drag him home. We can then start walking normally for a bit but the limp always come back. I hope its just a habit and I hope that eventually he will start to walk normally. We have another appointment in a couple of weeks, so fingers crossed he's still on course!

It's Time To Leave The Party
So late last night, shortly before I collapsed into my bed I noticed a few people on Twitter and Facebook mention that REM had decided to split. Its one of those things that kind of makes you feel both sad and happy, it makes you feel sad if like me your a fan of the band but also it kind of instantly takes you back to the reason you why you really like a band, you start to remember certain records and concerts. So it was quite nice to go to bed dreaming of watching REM at Glastonbury, many years ago.
When I heard last night that they had split up I guessed that they must have been going for at least 30 years and today after reading an article or two I see that I was right... 31 years to be precise. They've been going almost as long as me. I know a lot of people probably only know them from the mid nineties where they had some massive records but I actually really like their early stuff - definitely worth a listen.

Eric 'Weak Knees' Ryan
So then we had some good news on Monday, we took Eric back to the specialists so that they could check on his progress and after an x-ray they confirmed that its all looking good - which was a big big relief!
I should really have posted about this before, I might have mentioned it in passing but I don't think i've posted about it in any real detail. To be honest its been a bit of a worry because after making some good progress he suddenly started to limp again and I was sure that they were going to tell me that it hadn't worked.
Eric, for those of you that don't know, is our big bouncy boxerdog and after walking him a few months ago he developed a limp. Initially we weren't really too concerned because it had happened before and he'd be okay the next day but this time the limp didn't go away. We could still walk him, he'd run about as normal but the limp would return by the time we got home. So I took him to the vets, the very excellent Mrs Bendelow in Swinton, and she straight away noticed the problem and put eric on some pain killers. The limp disappeared but returned once the course had finished so the next stage was for us to get Eric's knee x-rayed and that showed that he had some mild arthritis and possible ligament damage which meant a visit to the specialists in St. Helens and the possibility of an operation.
Eric actually went in for the operation the same day that he had his first appointment at the specialists, the problem with his knee was something that is very common in dogs. Basically they develop this ligament disease that weakens the tendon in their knee and it has to be removed and replaced with an artificial joint, apparently the only breed of dog that they don't see it in is the greyhound. One of the surgeons told me that he see two dogs a day with the same problem.
Thankfully we were insured and it's just about covered the cost of his treatment, the operation cost something like £2000 and rather worryingly they told us that there is a 50% chance of it happening in Eric other knee within 18 months!
So this last month has been a bit of a nightmare as like I said earlier he started limping again a couple of weeks ago when initially things were looking great. The specialist reckons that its nothing to worry about, I think they took a bit of fluid out of knee and to be honest he's actually started walking a little bit better this last couple of day. Recovery is going to be slow, we've been told that it might take up until Christmas - we have to walk him for about 15 minutes, 3 times a day on the lead and we can increase this by 5 minutes each week.
I just can't wait to have him back to normal - he's dying to run around again and hopefully we might be able to let him off the lead in a month or so. We have another appointment in about 4 weeks at the specialists and we will keep and fingers and paws crossed!

The Eyes Are The Window Of The Soul
So another transfer window has shut... I've sat here for the last couple of hours watching Sky Sports News report as clubs have frantically scrambled to make their last minute signings before the 11pm deadline.
I don't know why it's such compelling viewing, it's ridiculous really but it's so addictive... I know really I'm watching because I'm secretly hoping that United will sign some big name player - although I know they hardly ever do any last minute business.
To be honest I much prefer the United way of operating, they identify their targets early and they get the deals sorted at the start of the summer. This then means that the players have longer to settle in and the club can concentrate on getting the team prepared for the start of the season.
A lot of the deals that have gone through today just seem rushed to me, I just think to myself are these really the players the clubs want, do the players themselves really want to play for these clubs or is just that everyone is that desperate to do a deal that they settle for second best. For example I'm not sure that Arsenal would have bought who they've bought if it wasn't for the fact that they were running out of time. Now i know that its not all there fault, the situation with Nasri and Fabregas has dragged on all summer because they obviously wanted to get the best price for these players but it meant they had no time to bring in players of equal quality.
Apparently £450 million has been spent during this window - it's incredible, the transfer market certainly doesn't reflect the economy. I suppose for a lot of clubs it's just one big gamble, a roll of the dice. I don't know why they bother... there's only one winner this season!

8 2 Admit That I Sold My Ticket!
Can you believe that United tonk Arsenal 8 - 2 and I wasn't there to see it! I don't miss too many games and I should have been there but I had a bit of trouble selling my Dads ticket as he was working - so I decided to sell both tickets to a friend of mine who took his son. To be honest I don't regret it, I'm sure they both had a great time and I certainly enjoyed watching it on TV. I had Scarlett with me, I think that baby is starting to become my lucky charm!
I was very impressed with United, I thought they were brilliant going forward but I thought Arsenal were awful defensively. I actually think United can play much better than that, we basically gifted Arsenal their two goals through stupid mistakes and they should really have punished Johnny Evans clumsy defending and scored that penalty. Mark my words this United team will only get better.
I'm loving the new signings, Jones is a class act, Young always looks dangerous and i even like the goalkeeper although he definitely needs to improve his concentration. I've also been very impressed with the two young lads that Fergie has promoted... Wellbeck and Cleverly. It's a shame Wellbeck has picked up an injury but at least we have plenty of other options up front. Cleverly looks like just sort of midfielder that we need, plenty of running and quality on the ball.
I still can't believe how bad Arsenal were, I just don't know what's going on there. Why didn't they flog Fabregas and Nasri early in the summer it was obvious that they both wanted to go. There operating a really strange transfer policy there... now they are going to end up with sub standard signings because they have left there recruitment far too late.
I don't see them as a challenger for the league I hate to say it but I think City could be our biggest rivals... They've started the season almost as well as us! I'm not convinced by Chelsea yet and I think Liverpool may lack a bit of quality - they don't have enough top players in my opinion, although I suppose there is one day until the window closes so they may bring more players in! But ultimately I think it will be a two horse race.

End Of The Summer
So it's early morning Tuesday, the day after a particularly bleak and wet August Bank Holiday Monday. I've just given Scarlett half her bottle and she seems to be torn between finishing it or returning to sleep.
It feels a bit like the end of summer, its another miserable looking day and people will soon be leaving for work knowing that that's it... no more holidays. I'm guessing the schools will be reopening any day and all the children will be going back - I remember how miserable I used to feel when the summer holidays were finished.
Personally I'll actually be glad to see the back of the summer, for me it's been one long hard struggle. Business has been pretty poor, summer always seems like a bad time for a designer. The work dries up, the phone stops ringing, projects seems to take twice as long to finish. I think its because people, businesses tend to wind down a bit in the summer, people go on holiday or spend more time at home with their children. Its perfectly understandable and i hope that next summer I can be in a position where i can afford to take some time off and not worry so much about work!
This summer has also been pretty bleak for a couple of other reasons, we just seemed to have a spell which lasted for a few weeks where nothing seemed to go right! Eric my dog had to have an operation on his knee, Suzie had to have an operation on her toe, the doctor thought I was diabetic (thankfully I'm not!) and Scarlett has really suffered with her teeth. There was a week or two where all four of us had medical appointments - it felt like we were living in a waiting room. On top of all that my main computer crashed, the hard drive had fried, so I had to have that replaced which took nearly a week - good job work was quiet!
So now things seem to be getting back to normal, the last week or so has actually been quite busy work wise and September is looking like it will be a busy month. I suppose not everything about this summer has been bad, I think I'm pretty lucky really and it's been brilliant watching Scarlett grow and develop over the last few months. I'm looking forward to next summer when hopefully we can go away for a few months and not worry about work. So I guess I better knuckle down, get some work done and make some money!

Work Work Work
Right then... a very quick little work update for those of you that are interested.
First up is new client, who I've quite recently started working for, there a building company that specialises in loft conversions. We've very nearly finished an A5 flyer for them, which I think will go to print this week. I've already redesigned their logo, which, actually I've just remembered I need to send over to the company that designed their website... I'll add that to my to-do list! Today and tomorrow, I'm hopefully going to finish off their business stationery and I think after that there might be another job which I think is some kind quote/job folder.
I'm very close, finally to finishing the artwork for the Peake Health Website, this has been ongoing job for quite a long time and hopefully we're very close to putting it to bed.
September is looking like it might be a busy month - I've got projects lined up for a couple of new clients plus a couple of old ones. We might be busy on the web side of things with possibility of building a couple of new websites as well. I'll let you know how we get on!

The Dreaded Summer Lull
What a difference a week makes...
I've had a brilliant few days with work, my phone started ringing again and thankfully i'm nice and busy! A week or so ago things were looking a little bleak - I was trying not to worry too much about it because to be honest I went through something very similar last year when work dried up at exactly the same time. I got through that period and went on to be very busy up until Christmas and work has been fairly decent until this little dry patch.
Well now I have work in fact I have lots of it and my schedule for the next couple of weeks is going to be very hectic. I'm working for four new clients, a building company that specialises in Loft Conversions, a new bridal shop thats opening quite close to where i live, a fashion boutique and a local business magazine. I'm doing lots of work for all four of these companies including logos, stationery, signage, flyers, brochures and websites.
On top of that I've also had a bit of good luck in that three of my current clients have also commission more work from me - so I'm going to busy!
I will try and keep you all updated and post some of the new designs as they are finished.
Cheers

June Newsletter
Well our first newsletter is finally here, I know its a bit late and I probably should have waited a week and called it the July Newsletter but I was pretty determined that I was going to get it out in June. If you would like a copy then please send me an email (jamie.jmedesign@ymail.com) and I will happily send you one. Thanks Jamie
Premier Foods Health & Safety Notebook
A quick little post about another job that's been concluded this week. Premier Foods are a massive company with something like 50 or 60 sites across the UK. I've been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to produce some Health & Safety awareness materials for them such as Flash Cards, Posters and Notebooks. So far we've done work for two sites and the latest batch of notebooks were produced for Wisbech. These were posted out on Monday! What do you think?

Manchester Therapies
Two posts in a day - is that a record?
This is going to be the first, of hopefully many posts featuring work that I've done for my clients. I'm kicking off today with Manchester Therapies, basically because I've finished the artwork, the clients are happy and I've just five minutes ago sent the artwork over to the printers. So I thought I would give you a sneaky peak!
Manchester Therapies are a fairly new client of mine and this is the first project that I've completed for them. They are a team of therapists specialising in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Stress Management & EMDR. They asked me to design them a Double Sided A5 Leaflet, a Letterhead & a Continuation Sheet.
Our Very First Twitter (& Facebook Competition)
This should be the first of many more blogs, I know i've said it before but I'm determined to start blogging on more regular basis and hopefully there should be at least a couple of new blogs every week (maybe more)! I will also be blogging more about my business and the services that I offer as well as keeping you up to date with how Scarlett is getting on. She had me up at 4 this morning... on a Monday!
Anyway, what better way to start than with a competition and your chance to Win a Free packet of Eccles Cakes, I was going to give away an Ipad but they didn't have any left at the Tesco's on the bridge. So I went with a prize that best represents me as an Eccles based Graphic Designer... The Mighty Eccles Cake.
To win this World famous packet of small round currant filled cakes, all you need to do is to visit my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/jmegraphicdesign) and 'LIKE' it or Follow me on Twitter (http://twitter.com/JmeGDesign). You could even do both and have TWO chance to WIN. For all of you that are already 'LIKING' or 'FOLLOWING' then don't worry, your already in the hat for the first draw. I'm going to be giving away 1 pack every two weeks so the first Winner will be announced here in Two Weeks Time!
Thanks and Good Luck!

Nick Rowlands
It's 1:39am and I am of course up feeding Scarlett 'Little Sheep' Ryan - feeding her with my right hand while I type this with my left (on my phone)... I'm like an Octopus!
This is her late night feed, she's supposed to have it at 11 but she's a slept right through to now. Hopefully if I can get her drink it all we might get to sleep all the way through until 6!
We actually had a night off on Saturday - Scarlett slept over at my Mums for the first time and me and Suzie had our first full nights sleep since Scarlett's arrival. Well I say full... I woke up at 5, 6 and 7 - eventually my body realised that Scarlett wasn't there and then I slept until 10:15!
We went to watch the game in the Little Welli, the less said about that the better but I think we both enjoyed the night out. Most of the lads went down to London to watch it but I'm glad I didn't - long way to go to get beat.
Rob, Owl and Nick Rowlands were out - I was quite amazed to find out that Nick reads my blog. I think he might be the only one... So this post is dedicated to Nick 'Bagpuss' Rowlands.
Right I'm going to wrap this up quickly - Scarlett has just caned her bottle and is looking sleepy... I could be back in bed in 10.
What else... Made diner for me mum and Suzie - roast beef, went down very well. Eric has hurt his leg - looks bad, hes not putting any weight on it, I think we might be going to the vets tomorrow.

It's Been A While
I know, I know...
I keep forgetting to post, must do better. To be honest, before I was mainly posting in the early hours when Scarlett was feeding but now she can almost sleep through. Plus she feeds much quicker, so I don't get the opportunity. I will have to try and make time.
Anyway here's a picture of Scarlett with a horse on her head! Night all

Just a quick catch up. I'm up feeding Scarlett, well I've finished feeding her and I'm just waiting for her too fall into a deep deep sleep - which at the moment is proving a bit difficult.
Tomorrow/Today is the Royal Wedding and the country has gone absolutely mad - I never realised just how popular the Royals were, there are people camping out in Westminster. Crazy, some have been there all week! The supermarkets are empty, people are fighting over scraps of bread - it seems like everyone in the country is having some kind of party or BBQ. I know we're having one, it's just a bit of an excuse really... I suspect most people are like myself and don't give a toss about the Royal family - this is just one big excuse to get drunk.
Look at me being all topical and rambling on when I'm supposed to be quick. Anyway Scarlett's & Suzie are both doing great, we have just had Andy Mansfield stay with us for a couple of days which was nice. Family BBQ tomorrow, although we're missing a few important member - I'll say no more.
Work is still pretty good - still got a few projects on for Peake Health & it's related companies which I could do with finishing, I need to get paid. Also going to really concentrate on getting more new clients in the next week.
United are marching on - looked brilliant against Schalke!

Good Friday... Not Bad
Well we're actually on the Saturday after Good Friday... It's very early Saturday morning about 2:00 am. I got up not too long ago with Little Sheep because she fancied some milk - babies 'eh!
Good Friday was pretty hard work - I spent most of the day on my knees grouting the tiles in the kitchen. It's an horrible job made even more difficult by the fact that the tiles have been in place for a year or more and we had to get rid of all debris and shit that had fallen between them. To be fair it was a team effort, my Mum helped with the grouting and did some gardening, my Dad finished the wall papering and did some painting, Eve did some gardening and a bit of everything else, Frankle watched and even Suzie's Dad made an appearance with a box of Cobras.
Suzie was on Scarlett duty, she was a bit restless and threw up all over her Grandad Chris! It's been another boiling day here - it's still very humid now although it did start chucking it down this evening. Luckily we had just finished having BBQ at my Mum and Dads.
I suppose it's been a good day, I would have liked to have got the back room grouted as well but we ran out of time. It would have been nice to have spent some more time outside, but i'm happy we got as much done as we did.
It's been such a long time since my last entry, I feel like I need to do a little recap! Deep breath, well... Suzie's Mum went back to the US on Monday, which was sad for Suz, but it sounds like she might be back sooner than expected - really feel for Gregg, he's a good guy. Frank damaged his ankle at football on Monday night, apparently that's him retired! Scarlett's doing great, we're all still knackered but last night was much better. Winton Park has been done up - lots of new swings, climbing frames and even an outdoor children's gym! Scarlett's a bit young for it, so I haven't been able to have a go yet... It's shame I used to know three young boys that would have loved it.... God I miss them x
Eve and Frank are in the process of buying a house on our street - fingers crossed it goes through... We're taking over the street, we're going to rename it Rymouth Road.
Work is good, work is strong! Plenty on, couple of new clients, reconnected with an old one and I'm close to moving into the funeral business... Don't ask, more details to follow!
Last but not least, we've got a house guest coming to stay on Monday... Drum roll please... Mr Andy Mansfield!
One last thing, come on the reds, let's get this league wrapped up!

Feeling Very Sleepy
Quick one this hopefully... I'm feeling very tired and I want to go to bed.
Scarlett is sleeping on my lap but she can't fool me, I know the minute I move her to her bed she will wake up and then I'll have to bring her back here and feed her the rest of the bottle.
Quick work update, I've been very busy these last two days and its looking like i'm going to be very busy for the rest of the week. It is of course a good thing and I like being busy but to be honest it's been very difficult because I'm so tired! I've never valued sleep so much, never realised how important it is. I'm struggling to function, my brain is turning to mush!
Tomorrow I have a 4N networking meeting in Salford quays first thing in the morning. I then need to pay a cheque into the bank, pick up some printing and then get cracking on some print and web work. I just want to sleep all day!

Yawn Yawn Yawn
God I'm tired, I thought I was getting used to these late night, early morning feeds but the last few days have easily been the toughest. For some reason Scarlett has been quite restless this last few days and we've really been struggling to get her to sleep for more than three hours at a time. She's also been very restless in the day, so it's been hard for both Suzie and myself to catch up in the day.
I was hoping today would have been a bit more relaxing and that I/we would have had chance to sleep but I ended up doing the garden and before you know it the day has flown by! We're both absolutely exhausted but little Scarlett is definitely worth it. X
I thought Suzie was going to need hospital treatment before, she developed these really severe stomach pains just before we were going to bed. She was in agony, and was pacing round the room... She couldn't even lie down because it hurt her even more and the pain made her very breathless. We ended up ringing NHS Direct, and thankfully Suzies symptoms had subsided before the nurse rang back. Not really sure what caused it.
Busy week again this week, I need to hit the ground running although I'm not sure how I'm going to find the energy to do it! I've got plenty of work on plus I need to keep marketing myself. Plenty of emails and I need to carry on my hard work on twitter, which I'm starting to use more and more everyday. I've got a networking meeting on Wednesday that I'm looking forward too - now is the time to really push the business!

April Fools Day
Me again...
April fools day today, well only just. I wonder what's the earliest a joke has ever been played on someone? I'd like to play a couple of jokes on me dad and suzie but I'm having trouble thinking of any! My brains have literally turned to mush.
Well i am, again, in the process of feeding Scarlett 'little sheep' Ryan - the most beautiful little baby in the world. I'm past the half way stage, past the first half of the bottle, past the first winding, past the nappy change - I've wiped her little weepy right eye with cotton wool and just give her another ounce of milk. She's now recharging before she gathers her last bit of strength to finish of the bottle which will then hopefully lead her back to the land of nod.
I'm feeling pretty tired myself, it's been a pretty stressful day... It started pretty promising but then quickly fell apart. I started the day, early this morning and my mission was to sort out my cluttered desk and messy desktop. I was winning everything was going to plan, I even managed to send a few emails to naughty clients of mine that owe me money. I was just going to print a letter off that I'd prepared to send my worst former client, basically it was letter threatening them with court action unless they settle their bill. I was just about to press print when a message popped up telling me that new software was available for my printer, I really wish I hadn't clicked okay. The new software installed and requested that I restart my computer, which is when I realised that I was in big trouble. Me mac wouldn't start up, I started seeing error messages that I'd never seen before and everything that I tried to fix it failed. I really thought that I was going to lose all my work, that's how bad it was. Thankfully I tried one last thing and amazingly it worked - it was the last throw of the dice and I managed to get the mac to start up and all my files were safe. I having a big clean up tomorrow and everything will get sorted out and backed up!
I should have been finishing a load of work off for Tracey Peake this afternoon but the mac let me down, I'm going to have to try and get it all done tomorrow morning.
Right Scarlett wants the rest of her bottle and I want my bed! Night all.

Wednesday - think
Breaking news - just had another job confirmed, lifeline now want me to do their stationery as well! So I need to get cracking on that as soon as.
Spent this morning working on a poster for Peake Health - it's a kind of collage/photo montage to celebrate this guy losing 10 stone in 9 months, oh and its his birthday. Also did a newspaper advert the other day for the same reason.
Off to the vets again to pick Eric medicine up and then back to work. We in April yet?

Nearly Bed Time
Nearly bed time - again! I think I got an hour earlier before Scarlett woke up for her first feed and I'm off to bed again once i've finished this.
She's sleeping now on a pillow on my lap - I tend to leave her for a bit before I carry her back to her cot and then fingers crossed she stays asleep.
She wolfed her bottle but then unfortunately puked all over me - it was like projectile vomiting, i couldn't get out the way. I changed her, she's okay now - it's just me that smells of baby sick.
I've got a feeling that unfortunately she might wake up a bit sooner than normal because of the sick - there was alot of it and I think she might be hungry again very soon! Sorry Suz, your turn next!

Lifeline, Premier Foods
Just fed Scarlett, just waiting for her to fall asleep and then I'm going to start work.
First thing first is too email a quote over to the lady at Premier Foods, there after some A6 Health and Safety Notebooks. There the same books that i produced for Barry at a different Premier Foods site but this lady wants a couple of changes making to the front cover. I've sorted a price out with the printer and I'm going to email her everything over first thing.
Lifeline - had a nice email from Tim, one of the co-owners, he's very happy with the logo and the first concept for the web page. I might post email on here later, I've not actually met him yet but he seems a very funny man.
Quistel - the horse box is nearly done. I've just got to make a couple of alterations to the colour of some of the type. The artwork is then going to be sent to the horse box owner, who can check that it will fit okay.
I've got Daybreak on here - what a load of rubbish!
Scarlett's still awake!

Sleep Depravation
Scarlett was one week old yesterday... Where does the time go!
I've been on night duty with her and shes been pretty good - only got up twice, 1:30 ish and about 5:30. I was up with her for a good couple of hours at 1:30 - she took some feeding and then it was hard work getting her to settle. She's just 3 quarters of a bottle and is now sleeping on my lap - I might see if she wants to finish this bottle before I attempt to put her back in bed. I'm also going back for a couple of hours!
Going have to get cracking today on all this quistel and peake health work, I've got lots and lots to do including a horse box, poster, three leaflets, magazine advert, label and invoices!

Work Update
I've just finished feeding Scarlett and she is now sleeping on a pillow on my lap. This parenting lark is much harder than I thought it would be but i think we're getting there. She seems to struggle to settle at night, I'm not really sure why - She is suffering with a bit of a blocked nose which is obviously affecting her breathing a bit. We're supposed to be making sure that we feed her every 3 hours at the moment to help with the jaundice, but I think it's better if we feed on demand and then she seems to sleep better.
This was supposed to be about work... Lots of work on for quistel at the minute, including a horse box! Also started back working for redmoran - I've got to be there in an hour, so I better get my skates on!

Nearly Home Time
Scarlett is finally off the UV lamp - her test results came back good and we just need to get through this next 8 hours without her turning yellow again.
If she passes the next check then we should be able to take her home tomorrow morning, I can't wait.
She's been brilliant today, slept for most of it, eating every couple of hours - the lamp seems to have done the trick because she doesn't look quite as yellow.
Can't wait for her to meet Eric x

The Dreaded Jaundice
"I took a day to search for God, And found Him not; but as I trod, By rocky ledge, through woods untamed, Just where one scarlet lily flamed, I saw His footprint in the sod." -William Bliss Carman
Another day in the hospital - we were all hoping to go home today but they've kept Suzie and Scarlett in for another day. Suzie is fine but Scarlett has jaundice - they did a test on her and she was borderline, so unfortunately she has had to spend the day under a UV lamp, which she definitely doesn't like.
Fingers crossed it works and then I can bring them home tomorrow x

Could today be the day
Why are we waiting...
Been here again all day - suzie is in labour but we're waiting on a ward for a space in the labour ward. She's doing great - really well, I'm really proud of her. To be honest I'd happily wait all night if that's what it took
Eve is here now as well.

Sunday The 13th
Today could very well be the day. Friday was terribly frustrating - awfully long wait in the hospital. Can't blame the staff - there was hardly any of them there - let's blame the torries.
Anyway after a five an half hour wait we were finally seen by the doctor and then by the midwife. We were very happy to discover that Scarlett is on her way and the general feeling was that she would make an appearance within the next 24 hours.
We were allowed to go home and wait for the labour to start and we're still waiting. There have definitely been a few signs such as some contractions but it hasn't kick started as yet. scarlett I'm afraid seems to be a bit like me, she likes to take her time, 'what's the rush?'.

Wednesday nearly Friday
Pretty stressful day for suz, numerous reasons but hopefully things will be better tomorrow. All this really doesn't help.
Scarlett isn't here yet although this is now the second day that she has threatened to make an appearance. I've a funny feeling that it might be tomorrow!
Going to try and sleep now but to be honest I've got far too much going round my head.

Is today the day?
Well I said the 8th and we're in the hospital so I suppose there's a chance but I think they will send us home.
Suzie blood pressure was high, so she's having some tests - things look alright so far but we should find out soon!
Maybe not today but soon Scarlett x

I Don't Like Mondays
Let's not talk about the football.
To be honest it's been a pretty bad week for a number of reasons but hopefully we might have some better luck this week.
Work is looking more promising, I've got a logo to design and I'm close to securing a couple more web projects which I can hopefully nail this week. One man and his monk might be busy this next couple of months.
Going continue emailing my March promo this week and also try to add a few more new companies to my list.
Playing football with the lads tonight for the first time in years, should be interesting!

Spring Some Life Into Your Business
March is going to be a busy month for several reasons both personally and hopefully professionally.
In regards to the business, I'm running my email campaign over the next week to promote my special offer on leaflets and flyers. So far I've only sent a couple of hundred but I may have landed a pretty big local company - fingers crossed.
Business has been pretty quiet to be honest, lots of things in the pipeline, jobs on the horizon - just got to be patient.
Having terrible trouble with one of my client who are now refusing to pay for design work that was done last October! The company changed managers and the new manager is refusing to pay for the work - I think I'm going to have to take it to the small claims.
Spent yesterday painting, our bedroom is nearly done - just the wallpaper and carpet to do. Don't think the nursery will be ready in time for Scarlett.

Joe Blogs
Right, starting today I am going to start blogging again. To be honest I never really got started.
Just listening to Sufjan Stevens - The Age Of Adz, not sure if it's his latest, probably not... I find it hard to keep up. I'm getting old! Anyway only on my first listen, I'll let you know.
It's March and I've started my March email campaign - The Great Leaflet Giveaway. Give me a shout if you know anyone who might be interested.
Scarlett isn't here yet but shes coming!
